Abstract. <\/strong>This chapter examines the role of archaeological heritage in the process of forming the image of the Altai Republic using the example of the two most notable monuments Ak-Alakha III and Kalbak-Tash. The reason for the selection of these sites was the popularity of these monuments on the Internet and in the media, as well as the offers of various tour operators who include them in their routes. Based on the first principle, the leader of all the sites is undoubtedly the Ak-Alakha III mound 1 monument with the famous \u201cPrincess of Ukok\u201d, rather not the monument itself, but only two of its components — the location of the site, the Ukok plateau, and the mummified remains of the \u201cprincess\u201d herself. The analysis of the offers of the tour operators gives a slightly different picture; the most frequently mentioned monuments in the itineraries are Kalbak-Tash, Bashadar, and Pazyryk, and obviously, almost all companies offering the tours in Gorny Altai include a visit to the National Museum named after A.V. Anokhin with the main goal of seeing the mummy of the \u201cprincess\u201d.<\/p>\n
