Altai\u201d project as an example of transboundary interregional interaction within the framework of a single natural-geographical and cultural-historical area. The capacity and multicomponent nature of the historical and cultural heritage of Great Altai is noted as the basis for the formation of regional self-identification. The constituent elements of the historical and cultural complex of the Altai region are considered: archaeological monuments, mythologies about Altai as the center of spiritual enlightenment and the ancestral home of the Turks, the ethnic cauldron of Eurasia and the crossroads of civilizations. The public discussions surrounding the burial of the mummy of the \u201cPrincess of Ukok\u201d are shown, indicating the possibility of objects of cultural and historical heritage becoming an element of modern socio-political discourse. The complex structure of the region\u2019s image in relation to the Great Altai becomes even more fragmented due to the division of this regional transboundary community into national sectors. The key importance of developing a common strategy, agreed upon at the interstate level by regional administrations, for the formation and promotion of the image of Greater Altai is
